ORLANDO, Fla. - Hilton Worldwide (NYSE: HLT) has awarded a team of colleagues from Parc Soleil by Hilton Grand Vacations Club a $5,000 Travel with Purpose Action Grant. These funds will enable the resort team to further support the efforts of their local Christian HELP organization's Central Florida Jobs Initiative (CFJI) by purchasing laptop computers to be used in workforce readiness training courses. The CFJI is a job-readiness training program which focuses on serious job seekers in need of assistance and/or coaching in their search for gainful employment
The Travel with Purpose Action Grant program, now in its third year, is part of the global effort organized by Hilton Worldwide and Hilton Grand Vacations to recognize and encourage philanthropic collaboration to address both local and global challenges. Parc Soleil is among 100 winners around the world to receive a 2015 Travel with Purpose Action Grant.
Hilton Worldwide's Travel with Purpose grants are designed to fund on-site projects, or projects organized in partnership with a local organization that provide unique engagement opportunities for local teams and creative approaches to address social and environmental challenges. These projects align with the company's four focus areas: creating opportunities for individuals to reach their full potential; strengthening local communities; celebrating cultures and the positive impact of travel; and living sustainably through the measurement, analysis and improvement of the use of natural resources.
According to Peter Merrill, General Manager of Hilton Grand Vacations Orlando Resorts, "We are thrilled to have been awarded a Travel with Purpose Action Grant for the second year in a row. This recognition affirms the thriving culture of charitable engagement at our three Orlando-area Hilton Grand Vacations Club resorts. When an idea comes to light, it ignites an incredible sense of passion among our Team Members to make a meaningful impact. We hope our involvement with the Central Florida Jobs Initiative will allow us to strengthen our community and also open doors for someone's future."
Laptops purchased through the Travel with Purpose action grant funds will significantly enhance the training programs offered by the Central Florida Jobs Initiative. The organization currently lacks sufficient technology resources necessary to provide the true hands-on experience required for entry into the modern workforce. This effort aligns with the Travel with Purpose focus of creating opportunities, providing essential tools for residents in the communities in which our Team Members work and live.
